Photographic publication „Wild Hearts“ (Divoká srdce in Czech language) is giving a tribute to animal creatures which have been forced to leave their homes as a consequence of human disrespectful behavior towards nature. Many of them have not even recognized their orginal homes where their species come from. They were born in the zoo, but their hearts are still pumping wild. This book has been done for four years and it is not only about showing respect to animals, but also to people who care after them. It is mainly thanks to their work that some species which would extinct today in the wilderness can survive and sometimes they can even be allocated back in the nature.
Each animal like a human has his own unique story. Destiny of animals treated in the zoo are
sometimes quite dramatic. In this book you can find some remarkable stories connected to animals grown in the Zoological Garden of Ústí nad Labem in the Czech Republic. One of them is cheetah called Jane who can run again thanks to an artificial hip joint. Jane is the only cheetah in the world carrying this kind of aid! Delhi, the first artificially inseminated elephant female in Europe should bring a cub into the world. Unfortunately the first attempt was not successful, but the experts do not exclude another try. And Malayan bear Imro nicknamed as Kájínek (famous Czech escaping prisoner) is another funny story from the zoo of Ústí nad Labem.
„Wild Hearts“ it is the intimate close-up in the world of animals, it is a book about friendship between a man with camera and inhabitants from a zoo. Many of them have not lost a thing from their wild nature.
Note: This book is so far available only in Czech version.
